Welcome to Bluey Recaps!

My name is Zoe and I am a mum of two living in the Snowy Mountains of NSW, Australia.

I started doing Bluey episode recaps on my parenting blog page #tellitlikeitismumma in June 2019, shortly after “Bluey” premiered in Australia. I was on maternity leave at the time and was following a hilarious mum blogger who recapped “MAFS” episodes (so I could read her funny recounts rather than having to watch the two hour drama saga that was the TV episode). I wanted to provide a similar service to parents and the only show I was watching regularly at the time was Bluey!

Since then, Bluey has become an out of control roller coaster sweeping up everything in its way (including Logies and an AACTA award), so I created a separate social media account specifically for the love of all things Bluey... @blueyrecaps

And now, seeing as I am still going 3 years later (and Bluey doesn’t seem like stopping in a hurry), I thought I’d create a website!

People ask me (not so much anymore mind you), WHY I am so obsessed with an Australian cartoon about a Blue Heeler dog and why fortheloveofgod am I recapping each episode like it’s a two hour Tarantino movie.

Here is my answer: Bluey epitomises the Great Australian Family. Each episode provides an insight into the imagination of a child and models how we as adults can be involved in their play, as well as keeping it real about the fact that sometimes it is exhausting and mind numbing. There are also frequent stereotypes that are blown to smithereens making you want to cheer out loud. And to top it all off, it’s pissfunny.

And I’m recapping it so those of you who aren’t sitting in front of the TV at 8am with a toddler or young child, but still come into contact with these little people (mums, dads, siblings, aunts, uncles, teachers....) can understand what all the hype is about in a 2 minute read rather than a 7minute viewing (yes, I see the irony there).
