#2.31 Mr Monkeyjocks
Bluey Recap: Mr Monkeyjocks (#2.31)
#bestbits: accurate depiction of every parent in the lead up to Christmas
#lifelesson: when you get everything you want, nothing feels special
Bluey is in the messy playroom circling new toys she’d like from a catalogue and complaining they they have no toys, just as Bandit opens the cupboard to an avalanche of toys and declares its time for a ‘chuck-out’.
They start with two baskets - one for keeping and one for giving to needy children. The toys get assessed, but it seems that every single one is “special” and the result is ALL of the toys in the ‘keep’ basket. The final toy, a monkey in jocks, is also saved. Bandit asks them to prove that he’s special (which Chilli prophesies that he will regret later on).
Mr Monkeyjocks is given the royal toy treatment, and takes Dads spot on the couch and at the breakfast table and then marries Chilli. Bandit proclaims that this has gone too far, but the girls suggest that he become Mr Monkeyjocks’s butler, to which he slyly agrees (and Chilli warns the girls that THEY may regret this).
Mr Monkeyjocks first role as head toy with personal butler, is to appropriate the girls toys and clothing for his own. Mr Monkeyjocks then kicks them out of their room, AND the house. Chilli tries to intervene but is also evicted. She explains to the girls that it’s all their fault as they ‘spoiled’ Mr Monkeyjocks.
As they go back inside they find Mr Monkeyjocks throwing out all of the toys as he wants to be the ONLY special toy in the house (the definition of “spoilt”).
Mr Monkeyjocks (via Bluey, Bingo and Mum) then explains that he’s unhappy as he has everything he wants, and when you get everything you want, nothing feels special anymore. Lesson learned!
The family then take round two at sorting the toys into keep and chuck baskets, with a pup in hospital receiving Mr Monkeyjocks to cheer him up and make him feel special.
