#3.4 Chest

Bluey Recap: Chest (#3.4)

#bestbits: new names for all the “chest” pieces - pompomhead!!!

#lifelesson: not all games have dice, and it’s important to work on developing your kids hearts (and heads)

Bandit has decided that Bluey iBeds old enough to learn chess (chest). In the background, Chilli questions this, but Bandit is determined that “almost 7” is old enough - however, Bingo isn’t big enough (cue sulk, cue Bluey telling her she can help her play).

Bandit attempts to explain the pieces and moves, and is met with “prawns” (pawns) and the introduction of toy figurines. The knights become “horses” (Gallahop and Daughter of), the rooks become “castleheads” and the bishops become “PomPom heads” (and rightly so).

Bluey and Bingo share the pieces as they are a team, and Chilli again beseeches Bandit (Deep Blue) to let it go.

As the “crown lady” and “wedding cake head” are introduced, Chilli chimes in to show how the queens movements are superior to that of the kings (as she does all the work #metaphorformumlife).

The game commences with Bandit attempting to instruct the girls in the correct way to play chess, and the girls basically doing whatever they want (including attending prawn kindy together). After Sir Gallahops death, and Bandit taking the queen, Chilli decides to intervene.

As she battles Bandit, she explains to him that maybe he’s trying to force chess on Bluey because he wants the kids to be SMART, and that one day the girls won’t be little “prawns”, they’ll be “queens” and he won’t be there to protect them.

Chilli reassures Bandit that he is a great “king” and that now is the time to work on the girls hearts, not their heads.

Meanwhile, the girls are happily having a pool party with the chest pieces in Mum’s cake tin, none of whom are “dead”.
