Teacher Calypso tells the children that they have a special treat today - their big school buddies are coming to play!

Bluey goes to meet her buddy Mia and they agree to build a fairy garden. MacKenzie goes to meet his buddy Captain and they agree to play Barky Boats in the water feature.

In an awkward teenage manner, Captain calls out to Mia as her and Bluey run off into the bush. He asks MacKenzie if he’d like to go help the girls build a fairy garden, which is met with a firm “no”.

At the fairy garden, Bluey asks Mia if she’s nervous about starting big school (nope!) and if she can compose a letter to the fairies for her. They are interrupted by a hopeful Captain (looking forward Mia/barky boats) and an unhappy MacKenzie who wants to go back to their game.

The boys return to the water and Captain promises not to run off again... until Mia and Bluey turn up with a barky boat and the buddies run off together to look for more. 

Calypso finds Bluey and MacKenzie sulking that their buddies left them and worried that they don’t like them anymore. However she assures the kids that they do, it’s just hard being 12. To explain, she has Bluey and MacKenzie build a big dam on the water feature with two barky boat (buddies) in the dam. As the water rises, and the barky boat buddies age, the dam becomes too big and bursts! The buddie barky board race down the stream on a wild adventure as Bluey and MacKenzie chase to catch up. Finally they reach the end, and live happily ever after.

Meanwhile Captain and Mia have a D&M about high school until they remember their buddies and race back to the water feature. The girls return to their fairy garden as Bluey finishes composing her fairy letter, in which Bluey asks the fairies to get rid of the ants in Dads grass and look after Mia at big school (sniff).
